Stream April’s EL SONIDO: Radio Show

Join EL SONIDO: for the latest in jazz, hip-hop and electronic music from the UK, Europe and beyond.

This month’s show features 11 tracks that whirl through a range of contemporary influences – from the almost retro sounding grooves of Oscar Jerome and the Tenderlonius-led sextet Ruby Rushton, to the wholeheartedly modern sounds of up-and-coming young producers Wu-Lu and Skinny Pelembe.

Kokoroko‘s ‘Abusey Junction’, which featured on Brownswood’s seminal ‘We Out Here’ compilation earlier this year, takes us on a heart-rending voyage through the sounds of west Africa, while bassist Shane Cooper’s new MABUTA project and UK jazz stalwarts GoGo Penguin continue the journey with ‘Log Out Shut Down’ and ‘A Hundred Moons’ respectively.

The epic, nine minute-long ‘Being’ from Parisian Quiet Dawn provides an education in the marriage between jazz instrumentation and electronic production, before veteran UK producer Nightmares On Wax closes April’s show with the hip-hop headnodder ‘On It Maestro’.

You can stream the show in full below, or listen to it via the La Radio website.
